The City of Long Beach provides eligible City employees all benefits to which they are entitled. The best medical care available is provided at the earliest indicated time accompanied by all appropriate indemnity benefits. In tandem, the City has a fiduciary responsibility to its citizens to minimize medical and indemnity expenditures. Partnering with an established Pharmacy Benefit Manager (PBM) service provider is critical to achieving cost containment goals. The City intends to partner with a PBM service provider who demonstrates the ability to incorporate industry best practices in the area of Pharmacy Benefit Management. Contractors should consider the California workers compensation regulations and public-sector populations in formulating a description of services. Contractors should incorporate knowledge of civil service requirements as well as presumptive illness associated within safety personnel job categories.
